Their middle class has been growing faster than other groups; there are now at least 52 million economically secure Indonesians. ​ This growth has created a strong basis for an enhanced depth of demand for products and services among a middle class that has become a dominant force in its domestic consumer market. Indonesia is promoting energy upgrade, particularly in remote area and outside Java.
